Joe Zook

Joe Zook is a Southern California–based mix engineer whose credits span pop, rock, alternative, and country. Across a career that stretches over 25 years, he has worked on records by multi-platinum artists including OneRepublic, One Direction, AJR, Rachel Platten, Ella Henderson, Andy Grammer, Serena Ryder, Kelsea Ballerini, U2, Katy Perry, P!NK, and Kelly Clarkson, among others.

He got his start in Los Angeles studios including Conway, Sunset Sound, and The Sound Factory, where he developed his craft before spending nearly two years working with producer Jack Joseph Puig. During that period, he contributed to projects involving Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Vanessa Carlton, and No Doubt, building the foundation for his later work as a mixer.

Zook’s credits include OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars,” “Apologize,” “Good Life,” “Stop and Stare,” and “All the Right Moves,” along with One Direction’s “Night Changes” and “Story of My Life,” AJR’s “Weak” and “Bang!,” Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” Ella Henderson’s “Ghost,” Serena Ryder’s Harmony, and the theme from The Office. Across OneRepublic and One Direction alone, his work includes dozens of songs across multiple albums tied to billions of streams, chart-topping singles, multi-platinum releases, and Grammy-recognized projects.
